Newsletter March 2020

Dear Student, Parent and Teacher,

Many thanks indeed for entrusting the supply of Your School Uniform to us at the School Uniform Shop; we appreciate your support. Now that the spring term is in full swing and Easter is fast approaching, I wanted to take the chance to update you with a little a bit about what we have been up to over the last year or so.

Our family business is important to us, not only to support us, our team members and the local schools we serve, but we are also doing our best to make a difference on the global stage.

When parents and students purchase their uniform from us we aim to supply excellent quality garments with the very best service, but at the same time I think its worth saying that buying through us does have a significant positive knock on effect and in many ways these purchases are directly helping us to help others at the same time.

  1. We have supplied free school uniform and sports kit to over 350 students and their families in need within Herefordshire, Monmouthshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire. These include families that have lost everything in house fires, children that are caught up in family break-ups, and families that simply need a little extra help. This includes supplying free uniform and sports kit to nearly 100 refugees that have settled in our area.
  2. We are working with City of Hereford Rotary Club and the Ponheary Ly Foundation in Cambodia, funding over £20,000 in educational and welfare projects including ensuring students have clean drinking water and a meal at school, supplying uniform to students at the start of each year, funding English language education and books for school libraries. Our latest project is the Khnar Village Learning Centre where we are building a new school block; Ponheary Ly Logo and Rotary Logo
  3. We donate all unworn old badged school uniform to People in Motion charity who help refugees around Europe and to date have donated over £50,000; People In Motion
  4. In 2019 we were recognised in the Midlands Enterprise Awards as Schoolwear Retailer of the year 2019; SME Midlands Enterprise Award
  5. Again in 2019 we were very proud indeed to be the only School Uniform retailer in the UK to be awarded Ethical Accreditation by The Ethical Company Organisation for our work around Ethical sourcing of School Uniform. All our uniform and sports kit is ethically sourced and traceable. We believe that the people who manufacture the uniform for our children to wear to school deserve the right to have good working conditions and health care and earn a fair wage that enables them to be send their children to School; Ethical Accreditation Award

Looking forward to 2020 and 2021 we are delighted to have been entrusted to supply School Uniform and Sports Kit for more schools than ever before. We are also working on a new project with The Hereford City Rotary Club and the Ponheary Ly Foundation in Cambodia where you and all your parents and students are able to help.

Books For Cambodia GBP = Book

We are aiming to buy new books for libraries in three remote villages in Cambodia. For only £1 parents and students are able to buy a book. We have had amazing support from parents and students that visit the store and shop with us online and have nearly 1000 books which will be delivered to the schools this summer.

If you would like to find out more about this project my Rotary colleagues and I would welcome the opportunity to come into school and meet with you to explain a little more; alternatively just email me or call me on 07810 008 318 with any questions.

Once again from all of us at the School Uniform Shop thanks again for your support.
