We want the best for your children, the same as any parent would. Children spend an average of ten hours a day in their school uniform which means it need to be of the highest and durable quality. We are passionate about School Uniform and we are also passionate about ensuring we source the right garments, the right way.
All of our school uniform is ethically sourced, produced and embroidered. All of our ethical suppliers ensure their garments are produced in environments where all of the following and more are met:
We are proud to say that our schoolwear ticks all of those boxes and more. You can read more on our Values and Ethics page.
We are proud to be an award winning School Uniform Shop after winning CWB Magazine's 'Best Schoolwear Store' 2015. We were described within the award as "A forward-thinking, socially engaged, ethical business that is leading the way in sustainable and ethical sourcing policy for school uniform." Read more here.
We have been working closely with a charity in Cambodia called the Ponheary Ly Foundation who support over 2,800 students across rural Cambodia.
Working together, School Uniform Shop and City of Hereford Rotary Club have funded three inspiring programs, all at Koh Ker School in Cambodia:
As important as it is for children in the UK to have a school uniform, it is equally as important for children all around the world to have a school uniform. We also help fund an ongoing School Uniform project at Koh Ker School. For most children around the world, wearing a school uniform can seem like a chore but for children in Cambodia they are unable to attend school unless they have a school uniform, so for them it is so much more than just something to wear. It represents an opportunity to get an education to have a better life for themselves and their families.
The Ponheary Ly Foundation supply every child at Koh Ker School with the supplies they need to attend school, with the hope that eventually every child in the village of Koh Ker will be able to attend. The cost of uniform and supplies is $20 per student but unfortunately this is out of reach for most Cambodian families who live in rural poverty engaged in subsistence farming with too many children at home. Ponheary Ly Foundation currently supports 2,800 students at 6 locations and provides these students with school uniforms every year.
People in Motion are a Charitable Incorporated Organisation that provide support and aid to displaced people all around the world. With their current efforts focused on the refugee crisis, they send aid and volunteer support throughout Europe and beyond to help people on their journey to a safer life. Although they are a relatively new charity, People in Motion have already sent over 60 vans full of aid and over 70 volunteers directly into the refugee camps.
Back in July 2016 we donated 30 boxes of new and used school uniform including polo shirts, jogging bottoms, sweatshirts and t-shirts which we thought would benefit the children living in refugee camps across Europe and further including Syria and even Africa.
More recently we have collaborated with Monmouth Comprehensive School to donate their old style, brand new uniform to People in Motion.
Our commitment to sustainability, the environment and of course poverty doesn't end there. In 2012 we helped fund the building and Luke (our Managing Director) opened a school in Nepal with the help from our friends at The Hereford Rotary Club and The Pahar Trust.
It is an ongoing project and we have together raised over £15,000 for the school. Read more here.
After the success of building our first school in Nepal we wanted to give something else back in another part of the world where they desperately need our help.
The School Uniform Shop is proud to be a supporter of 'Stella in Cambodia'. With the help of villagers and the local community they have built a school from scratch. The work doesnt stop there as they are always working on new project to improve the quality of life of everyone in the village of Phumi Snay La.
You can find out more information here.
We are currently working with The Hereford Rotary Club and the Stella in Cambodia project along with twelve other schoolwear retailers to build a sewing workshop so that the village school will be self-sustainable and villagers will be able to produce clothes and toys to sell at local markets.
