A recent survey reveals that 52 per cent of children and young people say that bullying is a big problem in their school and bullying is the most common reason for children to call ChildLine. With that in mind, Britain’s most well known schoolwear brand, Trutex, announces its support of the Anti Bullying Alliance, which aims to reduce bullying and create safe environments in which children and young people can live, grow, play and learn.
The sponsorship will see Trutex and the Anti Bullying Alliance introducing a national poster campaign, where schools, the voluntary sector and others will be invited to enter posters designed by children and young people into a competition to be this year’s Anti Bullying Week poster. The winning poster will be displayed by all schools to promote Anti Bullying Week, which takes place between the 20 -24 November 2006. Over the summer months of 2006, a poll of children and young people will be taking place focusing on the issue of standing by while bulling happens, with the results revealed as part of Anti Bullying Week. In addition, building on the popularity of last years wrist band, Trutex will be working with the Alliance to develop an anti bullying tag for Blue Friday, a non-uniform day during Anti Bullying Week, when children, young people and adults dress in blue to demonstrate their commitment to work together to stop bullying.
Simon Blake, Anti Bullying Alliance manager said:
"We’re delighted to be announcing that we will be working together with Trutex in the run up to Anti Bullying Week in November. Trutex are the first major sponsor that we have secured for the week, created to raise awareness of the issue."
Commenting on the sponsorship Clare Rix, Trutex marketing director said:
"With cases of bullying hitting the headlines on a regular basis and our relationship with children, parents and schools, we felt very strongly about making some attempt to address the issue through raising awareness of the damage bullying can cause and the help that is available for all those who are affected by it."
