Following its recent photo shoot in South Africa, the UK's premier schoolwear supplier, Trutex, is to donate over £3,500 worth of school clothing from the photo shoot to the Amy Biehl Foundation Trust in Cape Town.
The clothing used during the ten day photo shoot for the Trutex 2007 brochure, including skirts, shirts, shorts, trousers, knitwear, blazers and sportswear, will be used by the foundation for school children from some of the most impoverished areas in South Africa.
The foundation, set up in 1997 in memory of Amy Biehl who was dedicated to social justice, operates a series of programmes designed to develop and empower children and young people in the townships as a mechanism to reduce the level of violence.
Commenting on the donation, Clare Rix, Trutex marketing director said:
"We've been conducting our photo shoots in South Africa for a number of years now and we have a history of supporting charities within our local community in the UK. So we were keen to demonstrate our gratitude by donating school clothing to a worthy cause in South Africa and the Amy Biehl Foundation seemed an obvious choice due to its commitment to children and young people."
Last year, Trutex donated clothing to the Nazareth House Children's Home in Cape Town, who provide care for the most vulnerable members of society including children living with HIV, many of whom have been orphaned and abandoned.
